care for injured, sick and orphaned wildlife
Have you always dreamed of working with wildlife? This placement opportunity provides hands on experience in a busy wildlife clinic and rescue center in the Costa Rican Jungle. This program is available for veterinary students with a focus on the medical care of injured and unwell wildlife, as well as experience working in the neonatal unit raising orphaned young. A similar program is available for pre-veterinary students focusing on animal husbandry and general care.
Highlights and Experiences
Work with a variety of native wildlife including sloths, toucans, kinkajou and different monkey species. Veterinary students can expect clinical experience collecting samples, performing surgery and treating medical conditions in a variety of wildlife species. Pre-veterinary and other students can expect to gain experience preparing food for wild animals, assisting with capture and release and working on enrichment programs. Volunteers work 6 days a week.
Accommodation
Your accomodation in the beautiful jungles of costa rica
Live in a dedicated volunteer house in dorm style accommodations, with access to a kitchen and beautiful common areas to enjoy the jungle views. Three meals a day are provided, with buffet style food shared with staff and other volunteers, allowing a time to socialize and get to know your fellow wildlife lovers. Please note this is the jungle - you can expect to get hot, dirty and some bugs, but this experience is like no other!
Pricing
$1,000 USD per week short stays (under 30 days)
$3,800 USD for 6 weeks, + $350 per additional week
Includes: Meals, accommodation, transport to center
